Meet the Leaders in the Circular IT Transformation

Pressmeddelanden 15 January 2025 6 minutes reading

The driving forces behind the circular transformation of IT over the past year have now been revealed. The list of nominees highlights a diverse range of organizations committed to adopting circular IT solutions.

On Circular Electronics Day, January 24, we celebrate these leaders in circular IT. The awards ceremony, a new tradition established by the circular IT company Inrego, honors outstanding efforts in advancing the circular economy within IT. For 30 years, Inrego has been at the forefront of promoting and developing sustainable IT practices.

The awards are presented in two categories: Leader of the Year and Partner of the Year. The nominees have demonstrated exceptional ambition, growth in the number of circular units, and impressive percentage growth in circular practices. The winners will be announced during the Circular Electronics Awards on January 24 at Inrego's facility in Täby.

Nominees for Partner of the Year

De Lange Laden Finans AB

DLL (De Lage Landen Finans AB) is a global vendor finance company that works diligently to extend the lifecycle of IT products and reduce electronic waste by giving products a new life when contracts expire. With each year of collaboration with Inrego, they scale up their circular commitment, and in 2024, they reached new heights as DLL operations across Europe became involved in the circular initiatives. Through frequent, constructive dialogues, they demonstrate a strong willingness to grow together – just as a great partnership should be. With lots of ambition and drive, they serve as role models for how financial companies can lead sustainable change.

Novo IT

Novo IT has quickly established itself as a role model for how swiftly a company can transition to sustainable IT management. As a new partner that started operations late in 2024, Novo IT wasted no time in launching its circular IT management practices. In the final quarter of 2024 alone, they reached levels comparable to some of our larger, more established partners—an impressive achievement that demonstrates the power of implementing robust structures and efficient workflows from the outset. With such a strong start, the possibilities for Novo IT seem limitless.

ServeYou

With curiosity and commitment, ServeYou places sustainability at the center of IT for the future. They are not afraid to take on new, creative projects to achieve a competitive circular economy, such as initiatives involving refurbished phones and creating inspiring knowledge events during mobile exchanges. ServeYou acts as their customers' own circular telephony department, always staying ahead of the curve with progressiveness and flexibility. They know how to create real impact – through creativity, a “go for it” mentality, and having a lot of fun along the way.

Telia

By managing large volumes with stability and strategic focus, Telia is paving the way for a more sustainable future. Their circular commitment, in collaboration with Inrego, spans over a decade. With great ambitions, they aim to further expand their circular business in both reuse and sales of IT products to their customers. Their work serves as an inspiring example of how circular business models can create value for both companies and individuals.

Nominees for Leader of the Year

Saab

As a leading player in the defense industry, Saab demonstrates that sustainability can be combined with the highest level of security. With persistence and stability, Saab has not only increased the reuse of its internal IT equipment but also raised the security standard for the IT second-hand market as a whole. In 2024, they reached new heights with an increase of over 30% in the number of units compared to the previous year. They are an inspiring example of how long-term and strategic efforts can deliver sustainability that extends far beyond their own operations.

Siemens AB

Siemens is working diligently to reduce waste, optimize resources, and put circularity on the agenda. Since the collaboration began, Siemens AB has continuously scaled up and involved more Siemens entities in the circular flow. Today, Siemens AB, Siemens Healthcare AB, Siemens Industry Software AB, and Siemens Financial Services AB all demonstrate significant circular commitment by ensuring extended lifecycles for their used IT products. This year, Siemens has invested in internal training on sustainable IT to empower employees to manage their equipment correctly. Their drive to engage more Siemens entities as well as each employee in this effort reflects a deep awareness and strong ambition toward sustainable development.

Siemens Energy

With immense generosity, Siemens Energy demonstrates what is possible when we work together toward a sustainable vision. They not only extend the lifespan of thousands of IT products but also ensure that the proceeds contribute to a better life for children and families battling cancer. Through their circular IT management in collaboration with Inrego, the proceeds from every buyback are donated in full to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund – a bold decision that has inspired other companies to follow their lead. By January 2025, donations from their circular IT management will exceed one million SEK, and with each take-back, they continue to prove that kindness knows no bounds.

Vattenfall

Vattenfall is a role model for how transformation can be driven through clear leadership and a strong vision. Their ambitious sustainability goals are reflected in every decision they make, not least through the creation of a dedicated sustainability team within IT. This team aims to drive internal influence and advocate for improvements in sustainable IT practices. In 2024, the level of ambition in their collaboration expanded further, now including multiple European countries in a circular IT ecosystem. Additionally, more product categories, operations, and new services have been developed to ensure an even more circular flow. The widespread commitment throughout the organization is truly impressive and demonstrates how obstacles can be turned into opportunities when working together.

AcadeMedia

With strong determination and broad commitment, AcadeMedia is paving the way for a more sustainable future within Sweden's education sector. By investing in refurbished quality computers for students across the country and reusing a significant portion of equipment internally, they demonstrate how ambition, precision, and accountability can contribute to spreading knowledge, reducing electronic waste, and optimizing resource use. Thanks to their efforts, every computer gets a new lease on life – repaired and reused to continue playing a central role in education.
