Vattenfall and DLL have been recognized for their ambitious efforts in circular economy and sustainable IT management at this year’s Inrego Circular Electronics Awards.
The ceremony, hosted by the circular IT company Inrego, took place on Friday afternoon and celebrated two leaders in the transition to sustainable and circular IT practices. Vattenfall, one of Sweden’s largest energy companies, and DLL, a global player in financing and leasing, were honored for their dedicated work in integrating circular solutions into their operations.
In 2024, both companies expanded their circular initiatives across Europe, involving more of their customers in their sustainability offerings. They have demonstrated how large organizations can combine competitiveness with sustainable transformation.
"This is such an honor! We at Vattenfall are incredibly proud to have won this. We believe it’s extremely important to do as much as possible to take care of our used equipment" says Johanna Häägg, Head of IT Sustainability at Vattenfall, the receiving organisation of the award Leader of the Year.
E-Waste: A Global Challenge
The Circular Electronics Awards spotlight organizations that actively reduce e-waste and extend the lifecycle of IT products. Each year, the world generates more e-waste than the weight of the Great Wall of China – the heaviest continuous structure in the world. Of this, less than a quarter is properly collected and recycled.
"It’s an honor to receive this award as we have a high level of ambition and a certificate that we are working towards a sustainable future by extending the life cycle of IT products and reducing e-waste by giving products new life when the contracts expire" says Mirka Barvaeus, Manager Asset Sales Nordics, at DLL Nordics that won the Partner of the Year award.
About the Circular Electronics Awards
The Circular Electronics Awards are part of the global initiative Circular Electronics Day, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of reusing and repairing electronics to reduce climate impact. The awards are presented in two categories: Leader of the Year and Partner of the Year. The jury evaluates based on criteria such as ambition level, the number of reused devices, and increased circularity within IT.
