Siemens Energy Donates Over One Million SEK to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund Through Circular IT

Pressmeddelanden 17 June 2025 2 minutes reading

Since 2023, Siemens Energy has chosen to donate the entire financial return from its circular IT management to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund (Barncancerfonden). In early 2025, the total donations surpassed one million SEK a contribution that strengthens both cancer research and support for children with cancer.

Reusing IT equipment reduces strain on natural resources and the environment while also promoting green jobs in the repair sector. At Inrego, used corporate IT equipment is refurbished, increasing the value of the devices when resold. But some companies don’t stop at simply extending the lifespan of their equipment – they want to create even more value through their circular IT process. One of those companies is Siemens Energy.

Since 2023, Siemens Energy has donated the full proceeds from its used IT equipment to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund. In early 2025, the total amount reached 1,244,289 SEK.

“Reusing IT equipment is both a climate issue and a matter of equity. It feels especially meaningful that the proceeds also go toward a cause close to our hearts,” says Christina Skoglund, Environmental Engineer at Siemens Energy.

In addition to this generous donation, Siemens Energy’s circular IT management has significantly reduced carbon emissions. Since the partnership began, 595,707 kg of CO₂ emissions have been saved – the equivalent of 641 roundtrip flights between Stockholm and Barcelona.

Siemens Energy recently hosted an employee event where the collaboration between Siemens Energy, the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund, and Inrego was presented. A symbolic check was handed over, and Barncancerfonden expressed heartfelt thanks for Siemens Energy’s generosity.
