News 28 October 2025 2 minutes reading

On October 24, nearly 100 people gathered at Inrego’s circular facility in Täby for this year’s edition of the Inrego Circular Tech Forum – a half-day packed with inspiring talks, knowledge sharing, and concrete insights into how circular IT can be both profitable and sustainable. Participants also gained a unique behind-the-scenes look at how IT products are given a second life in Inrego’s circular factory.

The program featured Circular Tech Talks with experts from Vattenfall, DLL, Blancco, RISE, Linköping University, and Inrego. Together, they highlighted the opportunities, challenges, and future of circular IT. Topics included what happens to sensitive information when IT changes ownership, whether AI can help stop the world’s fastest-growing waste stream, and how businesses can unlock the full potential of circular economy, a theme explored by one of Sweden’s leading experts in the field, Professor Mattias Lindahl.

- It was great to see leaders in IT and sustainability come together to share experiences and explore how we can work with IT in a more sustainable way through circular economy, said Isabell Millestu, Communications Manager at Inrego and project leader for the event.

Vattenfall and DLL, winners of the Inrego Circular Electronics Awards 2024, shared their success stories and how they transitioned to circular business models. During the day, participants also took part in a guided tour of Inrego’s facility, where over 400,000 IT products are handled each year – a tangible example of circular economy in action.

Miguel Lampreia from Vattenfall encouraged attendees to take action with the quote:

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”

The Inrego Circular Tech Forum 2024 clearly demonstrated that circular IT is not just a sustainability initiative – it’s a strategic opportunity. With engaged participants, strong partners, and actionable solutions, the forum contributed to the collective journey toward a more sustainable IT industry.
