The Circular IT Market is Booming: Inrego Breaks Records with Over 50 Million SEK Revenue in November 2024

The circular IT market continues its rapid growth, and Inrego, a leading player in the industry, achieved a new milestone in November 2024 with over 50 million SEK in revenue—its strongest month to date.

While many sustainable companies chose to boycott November due to the consumer frenzy, Inrego took a different approach. By actively attracting customers from linear to circular solutions, the company recorded its best month ever.

“For every product purchased circularly instead of new, we reduce emissions. That’s why it’s crucial to make circular solutions the obvious choice for consumers who would otherwise opt for linear products,” explains Isabell Millestu, Communications Strategist at Inrego.

How Circular IT Gained Ground During Black Month

The circular IT market focuses on maximizing resource value through the reuse and refurbishment of tech products, saving both costs and reducing environmental impact. Through targeted campaigns emphasizing the natural cost savings of reuse combined with clear sustainability messaging, Inrego attracted customers who typically shop in the new market. This strategy significantly contributed to the strong results, according to the company.

The circular IT market continues to outpace second-hand fashion in growth, according to Svensk Handel. This strong performance demonstrates that circular solutions can not only compete with linear business models but also drive the market forward during periods of high consumption.

Award-Winning Strategy from Science Park Borås

On Black Friday, November 29, Inrego was awarded the prestigious Sustainable Consumption Prize by Science Park Borås for its innovative Black Month strategy.

“Our experience shows that a lack of demand often hinders the profitability of circular business models,” explains Birgitta Losman, Sustainability Strategist at the University of Borås and Chair of the Prize Jury.

“That’s why we actively work to create sustainable demand, making both individual consumption and business-to-business transactions better for the wallet and the planet. This year’s winner has shown that real environmental impact can go hand in hand with economic success.”

Circular Business Models: From Niche to Mainstream

Circular business models have transitioned from being a niche concept to becoming a cornerstone of the shift toward a sustainable economy. With its strong position, Inrego continues to lead the way, establishing circular IT as an essential part of the market’s future.
