Total Cost of Ownership
There are those who lead by doing—and those who follow with opinions. The Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) unquestionably belonged to the first group. The challenge isn’t coming up with new ideas—it’s replacing the old ones. But Arbetsförmedlingen dared to rethink. They said no to scrapping and instead focused on achieving the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for their IT equipment. The result was a completely new system that brought together logistics companies, manufacturers, and the reuse industry. Inrego was part of the journey, and the outcome was groundbreaking—delivering the lowest TCO per workplace in Sweden.
In the era of bulldozer swaps, new equipment, logistics, and reuse became a fully integrated process. It was all connected. New devices were assembled at Dell’s factory in Ireland, then sent directly to Inrego for unpacking, software preparation, and final setup for workplace installation. Our logistics partner took over, delivering and installing the new devices while collecting the old ones to be shipped back to Inrego for secure erasure and refurbishment. In many cases, Inrego handled the entire chain. This streamlined system made it possible to manage large volumes efficiently—thousands of workstations were replaced with just 20 minutes of downtime per site. The system was seamless and lean.
Inrego has always aimed to be as involved as possible across the entire reuse value chain.
