The stores

Inrego was founded on the idea of selling affordable used computers to students and private individuals through physical stores. The first one opened in Lund. We sold about two computers a day. Matching supply and demand was a challenge. We had to focus on sourcing—but we never knew what we’d be able to get, when it would come in, or in what volumes. We bought from both individuals and businesses. It was time-consuming and far from easy.

Most companies simply scrapped their used IT equipment, and only a few forward-thinking IT managers saw the value in earning something from what they no longer needed. Other things were considered more important. We realized we had to change behavior—from scrapping to reusing.

But the students appreciated what we were doing, and before long, we were able to open a second store in Uppsala. The business model worked—and we were on our way!

What’s worthless to one person can be valuable to someone else.
