Malte Månson is one of Sweden’s leading independent service chains for heavy vehicles. With over 30 auto repair shops in 27 locations, they’re a key player in the transport and logistics sector. Now, they’re investing in circular IT in collaboration with Inrego.
Accessibility, quality, and sustainability are core values that guide Malte Månson’s operations. For them - as well as for their majority owner, Accent Equity - working ambitiously to reduce climate impact is a given. They’re now taking strategic steps to increase circularity in IT by purchasing refurbished equipment and enabling the reuse of hardware no longer in use.
“It’s a major challenge to reduce climate impact in an emissions-heavy industry like ours, but we work closely with our authorized brands to constantly identify areas for improvement. We’re also looking across our own operations to find other ways to reduce emissions. One example is our internal IT, where we saw an opportunity to significantly cut emissions from our hardware,” says Pontus Österlindh, Head of IT at Malte Månson.
Refurbished Tech as Part of the Solution
Within the group, they started reviewing what IT equipment could be sourced as refurbished, and how to build a better process for managing end-of-life hardware.
“It’s generally a challenge to manage the lifecycle of IT equipment in a sustainable and secure way. With Inrego’s help, our hardware can be reused and handled professionally. Each unit is wiped so that no data can be recovered, and the transparent reporting makes it easy to see exactly what’s been done,” Pontus continues.
Big Investment in Phones
It’s now been about six months since the collaboration with Inrego began. At the start, Malte Månson made a large-scale purchase of mobile devices.
“We received a quick and professional response. The delivery was fast, the products were high quality, and they met our expectations. The overall experience has been very positive. Any questions that came up were handled promptly and professionally.”
Even the technicians working in the field, who rely on the equipment every day, have been pleased.
“The feedback from our workshops has been positive. As long as the devices meet the demands they face, which they absolutely have, our teams are happy.”
Aiming to Inspire Others in the Automotive Sector
Looking ahead, Pontus sees many opportunities to deepen the collaboration with Inrego. As Malte Månson continues to grow, environmental demands from customers and society are increasing. That makes it even more important to have a professional partner who can deliver function, environmental reporting, and transparency.
“For us, it’s not just about reducing costs, though that’s obviously important. It’s also about being able to show real progress in our sustainability efforts.”
Malte Månson hopes to inspire others to take steps toward greater sustainability and circularity - both in the automotive industry and within the Accent Equity group.
“Needs and conditions may vary, but this is a concrete way to reduce climate impact, cut costs, and still maintain high quality,” Pontus concludes.
