This is how we evaluate the condition of used IT products

Here you will find our grading guide that we use to evaluate and quality assure the reconditioning process of the 360,000 unique IT products that we handle annually.

Grading:

A | Good condition

A fully functional product in good condition. The overall impression is good, although normal wear and tear may be present. Minor cosmetic flaws may be observed upon inspection and may cover a small portion of the product's chassis, such as light scratches, marks, or discoloration.

No damages should be visible on the product's display when in use.

Grading:

A- | Ok condition

A fully functional product in okay condition. The product shows clear signs of use that are visible upon inspection, such as scratches, marks, discolorations, or minor dents. The damages are limited to a specific area of the product's chassis and do not affect its functionality.

Minor visible damages may be present on the product's display, such as light scratches or pressure marks. The LCD screen may have some damages, such as 1-4 dead pixels or non-functional touch functionality.

Grading:

B | Worn condition

A fully functional product in worn condition. The product has clear signs of use, and the damages cover a significant portion of the product's chassis, such as large or multiple dents, severe scratches, or being heavily scuffed. Damages from heavy pressure on the keyboard may be present.

Damages are visible on the product's display when in use, such as deep/long scratches or other marks. The LCD screen may have discolorations, color lines, or 5+ dead pixels. The display hinges may be loose.

Grading:

B- | Poor condition

A functioning product in poor condition. Significant damages may be present on the product's chassis, such as cracks or missing parts of the chassis.

Major screen damages may occur, such as pressure marks, discoloration, or cracked glass. However, testing and erasing can still be performed.

This usually occurs due to poor packaging during transportation or as a result of stacking products on top of each other.

Grading:

C | Broken condition

A product in a broken condition that is missing components, is not considered functional, or for other reasons, is not deemed possible to be sold to another user. The product may be software-locked, such as iCloud or MDM/DEP, which renders it unusable for another user, even if the condition is good.

The product can be repaired at our repair station or used as spare parts to fix other computers.

Grading:

D | Recycling

A product that is in very poor condition, completely destroyed, or deemed too old to be sold to another user. The product may be software-locked, such as Intune or Google, which renders it unusable for another user, even if the condition is good.

If erasure and de-identification are not possible, the entire product must be destroyed. If the storage media can be removed, it will be destroyed separately. The remaining parts will be used as spare parts to repair other computers.

Grading:

D | Recycling

The display, for example, may be defective, flickering, water-damaged, and have severe LCD damages. The brightness may be defective and perceived at a maximum of 5% of its regular strength.

De-identification is not possible for the product, and therefore it must be destroyed.
